Patient Condition

Mr. Li is 57-year-old but has always been in good health. About half a year ago, he developed a persistent pain in his waist and back of his left thigh while carrying heavy objects. At first, he thought "the pain would disappear as long as he endured it for a while". Unexpectedly, his symptoms did not relieve but aggravated after a rest. In addition, he could not even walk more than 100 meters with intermittent claudication. This condition made Li and his family panic. After several visited doctors without significant improvement, Li came to Jiaxing Kaiyi Hospital for treatment.

Li was admitted to the hospital and received relevant examinations. Zhenyun Zhang, Associate Chief Physician of Orthopedics, confirmed that Li suffered from relatively severe "lumbar spinal stenosis and lumbar disc herniation". "In general, patients with early lumbar spinal stenosis and lumbar disc herniation are mainly treated conservatively, supplemented by drug therapy, physical therapy and other methods. In the 2.5- hour operation, the physicians successfully performed a number of complex operations for lumbar spinal stenosis, including posterior decompressive laminectomy, nerve root exploration, nucleus pulposus removal, intervertebral CAGE implantation and pedicle screw instrumentation, which helped Li "straighten his back".
